This revolver is a bit of a collaboration between Our very own David Stavlo and renowned gunsmith Kenny Howell. This M1863 Starr Single Action revolver was made by Pietta and originally purchased by Kenny. As reproduction Starrs are notorious for working unreliably, Kenny re-worked this revolver's action to function flawlessly; just like an original. The cosmetic work was done by our by David. He started the defarbing work by removing all the modern Italian markings from the barrel, frame and cylinder. He continued by stamping a Civil War-range serial number on the front of the barrel in the same location as the originals using the same style numbers as found on original Starrs. The grips were then thinned out and inspector's cartouches were applied to make this revolver a true military piece. David finished the project by applying a patina to both the revolver and the grips.
The finished gun is a real show piece. It's got the look of a well used original with the bore and mechanics of a brand new reproduction (that actually works). This pistol would be a great addition to any history buff's collection.
