This beautiful Richmond Carbine was built using many original parts. The stock is a nicely shaped American Walnut piece from Dunlap Woodcrafts. All the edges are crisp and there are no cracks or chips anywhere.
The lock plate was made by Rich Cross and is unmarked. Cross lock plates are regarded by skirmishes as being the finest reproduction plates ever produced. The lock internals are all original; which give this lock a wonderfully smooth action and a solid half and full cock.
The barrel is an original M1861 contract barrel that was relined to 7 groove rifling by Bob Hoyt. The barrel is marked "Blue and Gray Gunshop" in small letters near the rear sight. The bore is perfect with no rust or pitting. The rear sight base is original while the leaves are reproductions. The front sight is a Richmond carbine-style replacement.
All the furniture is a mixture original and reproduction.
