This custom long rifle was just completed by master builder Steve Krolick. It features a custom curly maple stock shaped from a blank, as well as an original Ketland trade lock.
Steve shaped the stock from a hand selected piece of curly maple, just like original rifles. It features a "roman nose" style stock which is common to trade rifles. The sloping butt stock allows the piece to point very naturally for maximum comfort.
The barrel was made by Green Mountain Barrel Co. and is straight octagon; just like most original trade rifles. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling and no rust or pitting.
The lock is an original piece made by the famous Ketland gun company between 1800 and 1820. It is an original flintlock, not a reconversion. The cock holds solid on both full and half cock, and the frizzen sends a reliable shower of sparks flying with every pull of the trigger.
The furniture is all American-made and all the inletting is nice and tight with no gaps or chips.
This custom piece can be your for a price that is comparable to some of Pedersoli's flintlocks.
