First Model Griswold & Gunnison Revolver
This First Model Griswold & Gunnison (AKA round top model) was built by Steve to be the first (and only) reproduction of one of the most famous Confederate pistols made during the Civil War in correct 36 navy caliber. It is stamped number '1126' on its barrel, cylinder and frame. These first model pistols are the earliest production and would have seen extensive service throughout the war. Derivatives of the serial number, in this case, '6', are found on the secondary parts. There is a cryptic 'B' on the bottom of the barrel by the loading latch and one on the back strap in back of the trigger guard. The cylinder has a twist line in it to replicate the pattern left by the twisting of the original iron cylinders that were used to build these revolvers originally. The grips are a dark red and varnished. The smooth worn patina gives it a persona all its own.
