Here's an awesome Harper's Ferry M1816 conversion in excellent, untouched condition. These Southern Conversion muskets are most often associated with Confederate usage.
The lock is in great shape with some salt and pepper pitting throughout, but legible markings. The lock holds solid on both full and half cock.
The stock is in excellent shape with no cracks or splits. The lock panels are wonderfully sharp and the original Harper's Ferry "James A. Schaeffer" inspectors cartouche is still present and legible.
The barrel is full length and features great stamps, including an original date stamp on the tang - a rare feature for an 1816. The "bolster" around the nipple is in great shape, without any of the major pitting or corrosion seen on other conversion muskets. The bore is good with some areas of scattered pitting.
All the furniture is original including the ramrod.
