This original M1855 "Artillery" rifle is all ready for skirmishing.
It features an original 1857 dated Springfield lock with a nice patina. The maynard tape feeder was removed to speed up the lock's action, but the spring is still intact. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.
The stock is very sound with no chips or cracks and only a few minor handling marks. The original inspectors cartouches are still visible.
The barrel was relined by Bob Hoyt and the bore is excellent. A set of machined sights made by Rich Cross have been neatly installed.
The furniture is a mixture of reproduction and original components; but all fit and match well.
