Here's an excellent example of the "greatest battle implement ever devised" - the venerable M1 Garand. This particular M1 was made by Harington & Richardson. H&R Garands make up less than 10% of the total production of M1 rifles, with the company producing about 500,000 overall; compared to the more than 4 million produced by Springfield.
This Garand is in great shape and is all correct, with all of its major components bearing HRA markings. The serial number on the receiver places its date of manufacture in 1954, while the barrel sports an HRA marking with a matching "6-54" date - meaning this gun sports its original factory barrel and has never been arsenal refurbished!!
It also features a correct, original Walnut stock (not a modern Boyd's/CMP replacement stock, or post War birch stock). The stock is in great shape and is structurally excellent with no major cracks, chips or soft spots.
The action functions correctly and the receiver features great arsenal parkerizing and no pitting or rust.
The .30-06 barrel features great, sharp rifling with no rust or pitting.
This collectible M1 would make for a great shooter, or reenactor rifle.
