Here's a very interesting restocked Harper's Ferry M1803 Rifle.

This pieces started out as a military M1803 Rifle, and was later restocked as a civilian half-stock rifle. The workmanship of the restocking is very good and appears to be period.

The stock is straight-grained walnut and features a poured pewter nosecap and wedge plates. A oval patchbox is very neatly inletted into the stock as is a set of double set triggers.

The lock and barrel were converted to percussion by way of the "drum method". The lock works very well with a positive full cock (the half cock notch was removed to allow the lock to be used with set triggers).

The barrel was left full length and largely unmodified; although the bore was reamed to .62 caliber smoothbore. The good news is that the condition of the bore is very good - shiny with no major rust or pitting.
