Here's a unique little musket. This "Cadet's Musket" was made in the mid-19th Century in Liege, Belgium. These half scale weapons were made for the purpose of training boys or youth. It is extremely lightweight with a .56 caliber smoothbore barrel measuring only 26.5" overall. There is some evidence that at least a small number of these guns were imported for use in the Civil War, and similar Belgian Cadet rifles can by found pictured on page 75 of William B. Edwards' Civil War Guns.

This little musket remains in great shape. It features a very nice European Walnut stock with crisp edges and no cracks, chips, or other areas of damage.

The lock is unmarked, and features a nice finish with no areas of pitting or major rust. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.

The barrel matches the barrel in terms of condition and features a crisp Liege proof mark at the breech. The bore is good with no major rust or pitting.

The furniture is all original and in good condition; including the ram rod which is full length.
