Here's a great First Generation Colt Single Action Army chambered in the venerable .45 Colt. This SAA features all correct and in great condition; unlike many other First Generation Colts on the market today.
The action is good with a solid "3 position" hammer that locks up solid when cocked. The action is reliable and very smooth; and the cylinder locks up well when cocked without any major wobble or end shake.
The original 7 1/2" barrel is in good condition with great rifling and minimal "frost pitting" in the grooves. A correct early style front sight is intact at the muzzle; indicating that the barrel was not cut down. All markings, including the Colt Address and caliber marking are legible and in good condition.
The cylinder is correct for a First Generation Colt and the chambers are good with no major pitting or damage.
All serial numbers match, and reveal this Colt's year of manufacture to be 1901.
A correct patent date and "Rampant Colt" can be found stamped on the frame.
The hard rubber grips are in great shape and show some good wear.
The pistol sports an attractive nickel finish, with some minor flaking in areas.
This quintessential "cowboy gun" has a great overall look and great action. A perfect addition to any Colt enthusiast's collection.
