Description

The Colt "Second Generation" revolvers were limited run of correctly marked, correctly finished Colt percussion pistols assembled in U.S. by the Colt factory in the 1970's. They have all the correct markings and finishes that original Colt Revolvers had. They differ from other reproductions on the market in that they were finished by Colt and feature all the proper roll stamps and finishes like bone charcoal color case hardening on the frame, hammer and loading lever.

This Colt Second Generation M1851 Navy was originally manufactured as a First Model Navy with a "Square Back" trigger guard. It was a fine reproduction in it's own right, but original First Model Navies were only produced for a few years before being replaced with the round trigger guard that is most associated with Civil War Era Colt. In order to produce a correct round trigger M1851 Navy, our very own David Stavlo. Re-worked a like-new barely used Second Generation Colt. David replaced the back strap and trigger guard with custom fit brass pieces cast from an original Colt Navy. The trigger was also replaced with a longer model, as is correct for Navies with round trigger guards. David also made the grips out of American Walnut and finished them neatly on the gun. He finished the project by stamping the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap using dies that match the original Colt numbers perfectly.

This pistol is literally one-of-a-kind and is the only Colt 2nd Generation 1851 Navy on the market with the correct, martial style 4th model brass trigger guard and back strap.
