We are pleased to offer the first and only defarbed LeMats on the modern market place. This beautiful revolver was reworked in-house by Gunsmith David Stavlo. David has perfected his technique to provide a near perfect copy of the original LeMats imported to the Confederacy during the Civil War. David's LeMat work was recently featured in the Fall 2017 issue of Guns of the Old West magazine.

David began the work by carefully removing all the modern markings from the cylinder, frame and both barrels. He also removed the scroll engraving from the cylinder; which is correct for a Confederate-imported LeMat. He then stamped the serial number on the barrel, frame, and cylinder - the same locations as the originals, using dies that are a near perfect copy of the originals used by the LeMat factory. He also replicated the original */LM proof mark stamps on the barrel using a die that was copied from rubbings taken off an original LeMat.

The bluing was then stripped from the gun and a beautiful patina was applied to the whole pistol. This worn finish gives the gun the look of a 150 year old original while allowing the gun's bore, chambers and mechanism to remain in new condition. David also re-timed the action of this pistol to make it function reliably (most reproduction LeMats are very poorly timed).

The process was finished with the antiquing of the grips. David lightly sanded the checkering to simulate wear before the grips were stained dark and sealed with an oil finish.

The finished pistol is a near perfect copy of the original Confederate-imported LeMats. It's got the look of the originals but the bore of an reproduction. This is a great way to add a bit of "authenticity" to your pistol collection.
