Center fire, rim fire, cap lock, flintlock, and.....matchlock! You've probably owned and/or fired a firearm from each of these first four categories, but most have never even handled, much less fired, a weapon from the last category-the crude but elegant match lock. That's why we are pleased to offer this completely American-made and historically accurate Germanic Match Lock Musket.

This match lock is completely hand made an in excellent condition. It is built to reflect the style of original Dutch/Germanic muskets from around 1640.. Match Locks like these would have been common in the New World as the need for good military arms was critical in defending England's foothold in America from both the Spanish and the Indians.

The lock and all its components were hand-made and assembled. The stock was made from a blank, not a "pre-carve" kit, and was entirely fit and finished by hand. The sights, trigger guard, trigger, butt plate pan, and pan cover were also completely made from scratch. The only component of this musket that wasn't made by the builder is the 42" .62 caliber smoothbore from Colerain.

At just over 58" long, the finished piece is an awesome replica of one of the gun's that literally helped to shape America as we know it today.
