Custom Late 18th Century "Poor Boy" Rifle

Here's an awesome custom flintlock rifle for an even more awesome price! This custom "poor boy" rifle is typical of the kind of work-a-day guns typical at the turn of the 18th Century. These rifles are distinguished by their simple, steel furniture and walnut or maple stocks. Without any embellishments or engraving, the beauty of these rifles is in their clean lines and quality craftsmanship. 

This particular rifle was stocked from a blank (not a pre-carve) by hand using a beautiful piece of American Black Walnut, which is nicely shaped and points very naturally. A historically-accurate "grease hole" has been added to the but in lieu of a patchbox. The rifle is nicely balanced at 54" overall length and only 7.25 lbs in weight. The length of pull 13.5" making it very comfortable for average-sized shooters. Ignition is provided by a Jim Chamber's "Siler" lock; which gives a reliable spark and blazing-fast speed. 

The straight 40" .40 caliber barrel is in like good condition with a nice bore and "armory bright" external polish. 

The furniture is a mixture of cast and custom-forged pieces and all the in-letting work is clean and nicely executed. In the typical poor boy fashion, this rifle has no buttplate, but instead has a square nail installed in the heal of the butt to prevent damage to the wood.

This rifle would be perfect for any reenactor or shooter. It's a 100% one of a kind custom piece for a price that is similar to that of an out-of-the-box Italian reproduction!
