Our "premium" Enfield sling is hand crafted by C.A. Davisson Leatherworks in Texas; a company that specializes in reproducing Civil War military leather goods. It is an exact copy of the British-made Enfield-pattern slings that was imported by the thousands by both the North and South. It is the only historically accurate option for those who wish to outfit their British musket or rifle with a correct sling. Unlike American slings that were made from undyed leather, the Enfield sling was died black for water resistance and durability. The Enfield sling was popular amongst the rank and file soldiers as its adjustable brass buckle was easier to use and more comfortable than the "hook" of American slings. Davisson's slings are meticulously researched copies original originals. Like the originals, this sling is made of lightweight leather; much thinner than other reproductions. This again, is a feature found on original slings as most reproduction slings are made from much heavier leather than what was used on originals.
These slings are perfect for a discerning reenactor or collector who needs a historically accurate sling to go with his defarbed or original weapon.
