Description

Here's an excellent Smith Carbine. This Smith was built by American Machine Works, making it among the rarer Smith contractors. This carbine is in excellent condition; retaining much of its original color case hardening and blued finishes.

The receiver is in excellent condition with a much of its color case hardened finish remaining and beginning to "plum". The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock and the maker's stamps are crisp and legible. The saddle bar and ring are original and in good condition. The stocks are in great shape with most of their original finish remaining.

The barrel has excellent bluing with no pits only scattered areas of light surface rust. Both front and rear sights are original and in good condition. The top strap and trigger guard retain much of their original fire-bluing. The bore is absolutely phenomenal and appears to be unfired. There is no rust or pitting anywhere. The lock up between the barrel and receiver is solid, but there is some discernable "wobble" present.

This is an excellent collector grade Smith that could certainly be taken to the range from time to time. Don't let this one get away!
