Description

This beautiful, collector grade Zouave rifle is about as nice as they come. The stock is in beautiful condition with wonderfully crisp edges and deep, legible inspector's cartouches. The lock still retains a good portion of its original color cased hardened finish without any rust or pitting. The lock markings are very crisp and legible. The lock's action is flawless and the hammer holds solid on both half and full cock with the satisfying "click-click" sound that is only ever encountered on an original lock.

The barrel is in great shape. It retains nearly all of its original blued finish. Both front and rear sights are original and unmodified and the date stamp and proof marks at the breech are crisp and legible. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling.

The furniture is all original and matching. The ramrod is full length.

The Zouave rifle is considered by many to be one of the most handsome weapons of the Civil War. One look at an original Zouave like this one; and its easy to see why it is the most reproduced musket on the market today.
