Here's a great, all original M1862 Austrian Lorenz with Civil War history bursting at the seams. Unlike the M1854, this M1862 Austrian Lorenz was made particularly for export to the US for the War, meaning that, unlike some M1854 models, this Lorenz was definitely imported specifically for use during the Civil War
This excellent Lorenz has withstood the test of time in excellent condition, it easily ranks among the top 5 nicest examples we've ever had.
The barrel is in fantastic condition inside and out with both front and rear sights intact and unmodified. All proof marks are legible and struck deep including the barrel maker's stamp on the breech-an extreme rarity for an original Lorenz! The bore is great with some minor rust spots here and there but beautifully sharp rifling and no pitting.
The lock is dated and functions perfectly on both full and half cock. The ramrod and all the furniture are original and all matching with each piece bearing the same assembler's number. Both sling swivels are intact and movable. The ramrod is full length.
The beech wood stock is in incredible condition with wonderfully crisp edges and no cracks chips or splits.
This is an excellent collector's grade Lorenz. Austrian rifles in this sort of condition are not found very often, don't let this one escape!
