This is a great, original Smith! It is all original and is sports a set of sling swivels; rather than a saddle bar, making it a comparatively rare First Model Smith. The action is smooth; holding solid on full and half cock. The lock up is very tight with no wiggle between the receiver and barrel. The receiver has great markings with a nice, honest patina.

The bore is outstanding! The rifling is perfect and there is no rust or pitting anywhere. The flash hole is nice and tight-not burnt out like so many other carbines. Both front and rear sights are original and unmodified - making this one of the few original Smiths that hasn't been used for N-SSA skirmishing - a true collector's item.

The stocks are in good shape. with crisp edges and only a few scattered dings and dents. The are no cracks or chips anywhere. The butt stock has a great inspector's cartouche and shows evidence of of some saddle wear - meaning this gun was actually issued and used by a fighting unit.

This Smith is a great gun. The condition of the bore and the tight lock up make this an excellent candidate for a shooter or collector.
