Description

The French '42 is easily one of the most under represented guns in Civil War reenacting. In fact, many Civil War buffs aren't even aware that these huge back-action guns were imported during the war. These guns were a staple on the battlefield however and many original tin types can be found that depict these beefy guns displayed proudly in the arms of the soldiers who carried them.

This particular musket is in great shape. It is all original and even includes an original matching bayonet

The stock is in great shape with no major cracks or chips.

The lock is good with no major rust or pitting. The action is flawless and holds solid on both full and half cock.

The barrel is original and full length. The bore is smooth - meaning this is one of the few guns that wasn't sent back to arsenal to be rifled. The condition of the bore is fairly good, - a bit dirty from storage; but without any areas of major rust or pitting.

The furniture is all original and matching. This would be an ideal candidate for any reenactor or living historian that wants to get away from the traditional Enfield and Springfield reproductions carried by 99.9% of other reenactors. This is a great original musket for the same price as defarbed Italian reproduction!
