Here's a great, original Gallager carbine. This carbine is all original with the exception of a "tall shooter" front sight The sock is in good shape with some minor dings and dents. There is a "drying crack" at the toe of the butt stock, but it is stable and doen't appear to flex or "open" when pressure is applied to it. There is some minor "burn out" to the stock behind the hammer.

The metal components of this Gallager are in good shape. The lock plate markings are very legible. The lock holds solid on both full and half cock.

The lever is in good shape and latches positively. The barrel lock up is nice and tight with no wobble. Both front and rear sights are intact and in good shape. The barrel is full length with no major pitting. The bore is very good with some scattered pitting at the breech and very strong rifling throughout.

This carbine is a must for any collection. Few Civil War-era weapons tell the kind of story that this one does; and even fewer tell it for such a low price!
