Description
This flintlock pocket pistol is in excellent condition. It is a box lock action with a "center hung" cock. It is unmarked with the exception of its proof marks; which are English. These pistols were very popular "concealed carry" weapons in the late 18th and early 19th Century. This particular example dates to the 18th Century, as evidenced by its "flat sided" receiver (19th Century guns generally feature round receivers). It was made by J.M. Burnie of Berwick, England.
The cock holds solid on both full and half cock. The frizzen spring is crisp. The foldable trigger drops down into the firing position and full cock; as it should. The barrel measures roughly .45 caliber and is in good condition with some rust in the bore, but no major pitting.
The original walnut grip is in excellent condition with no splits or cranks.
