Description

Here's a great Springfield 1816 that was converted using the Belgian, or "cone-in-barrel" method.

The lock is in great shape with a nice, chocolate patina and good, legible stamps. The lock holds solid on both full and half cock.

The stock is in good condition with no real damage other than a drying crack behind the lock plate and some burnout from firing.

The barrel is full length and features great stamps. The "bolster" around the shows some major erosion from years of firing, so this musket would best be relegated as a display piece, as major gas leakage would occur should the gun be fired. The nipple is a reproduction and the bore is dark with heavy rust and pitting throughout.

All the furniture is original including the ramrod. Both swivels are intact and movable.

This musket is a great choice for any reenactor. Bargain-priced at less than the cost of a Pedersoli reproduction.
