This original M1854 Lorenz is in good, serviceable condition. It is all original and in great shape.

The lock has a nice even patina and the hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.

The beech stock is in very good shape with none of the "drying cracks" that typically plague Austrian rifles, although there is what appears to be a fairly modern repair near the top of the lock mortise, as well as a roughly 2" area of wood filler in the forearm.

The barrel is full length and features the rear "block sight" that is often associated with Confederate-owned guns. The bore was reamed to a .56 caliber smoothbore; making it a good candidate for reenacting. Alternatively it could either be relined to original .54 caliber or be cut with .58 caliber rifling.

The furniture is all original. The ramrod is full length and extends roughly an inch beyond the muzzle; which is correct for a Lorenz.

This is a great, usable Lorenz for more than $500 less than a Pedersoli reproduction.
