Description

Here's a handsome looking model 1860 Spencer rifle. This Spencer has a great used, but never abused look. The metal has a great patina with no rust or pitting. The stocks are in great shape although there are a few "drying cracks", typical of most Spencers, and some areas of woodfiller around the buttplate. They only effect the carbine cosmetically and don't effect the stock's structural integrity.

The magazine tube is original and in good condition. The magazine spring is present and functional. The lock is in excellent condition with a wonderfully smooth action which holds solid on both full and half cock. The action of the breech block is positive, although the block does stick a bit when the action is closed. However all parts present and accounted for with no rust, pitting or damage.

The bore is good with some scattered rust and an only minor pitting. Externally, the barrel has a great patina with no rust or pitting. The rear sight is intact and in great shape. The front sight base is original, but the front sight blade has been replaced with a taller piece for target shooting.

This is a great example of America's first repeater priced modestly to be attractive to any collector.
