Here's a great, all correct and all matching M1861 L.G.&Y Special model.

This musket is in good condition. It features a great stock with nice crisp edges and no cracks or splits. The stock features several inlays, most likely done during the 19th Century, and certainly after the gun was sold on the civilian market.

The lock has a great smooth patina with no pitting and crisp markings. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.

The barrel is very good with great markings. The bore is quite good with sharp rifling and no major rust or pitting - this gun would be a great shooter!

The furniture is all original with the exception of a reproduction rear sight.

This gun would be great for a collector who wants an original piece of Civil War history that he can actually use without worrying about devaluing a perfect near-mint "survivor". The inlays in the stock certainly detract from the gun's collector value, but as a shooter or reenactor gun, this musket can't be beat - especially when you consider that we're listing it for a price that's comparable to an Italian reproduction!
