This original M1863 Springfield was cut down to "Artillery Rifle" length sometime during the late 20th Century for use in N-SSA skirmishing. The barrel was shortened to 33" and the stock was cut back accordingly.
The gun is in good functional shape. It is all original with the exception of the sights, ram rod and nipple.
The lock holds well at both full and half cock and the trigger pull is nice and crisp.
The stock is sound with no cracks or splits.
The barrel features a great bore with no major rust or pitting.
This would be a great rifle for a reenactor or competition shooter.
