Description

This M1863 is all original and in excellent shape. The stock and hardware both have a great patina with minimal rust and pitting.

The lock is in excellent condition with crisp legible stamps. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.

The barrel is in good shape. The VP and Eagle and date stamps are crisp and legible. The barrel is full length and both front and rear sights are intact and in good condition; although the rear sight is an American-made reproduction by master machinist Rich Cross. The bore is very good with strong rifling and no rust or pitting.

The stock is in great condtion. There are no chips or rotten spots anywhere, although there is a crack in the wrist which was professionally repaired using glass bedding compound. This makes the repair extremely strong and durable. The repair was also blended in very well and is difficult to see unless you're looking for it.

The furniture is all original and with an excellent patina. The ramrod is an American-made reproduction.

This '63 would be a great addition to anyone's US musket collection.
