Description

This original .45-70 M1884"Trapdoor" rifle is in good shape and is all correct and original. The stock has a great look and color; indicating that it was never re-finished. The original inspector's "P" cartouche is still visible on the belly of the stock, behind the trigger guard.

The lock holds solid on all three positions. The lock plate has a nice patina with much of its original blued finish beginning to "plum". The lock plate stamps are crisp and legible.

The barrel is in good shape with no rust and great bluing throughout. A good, legible VP and EAGLE is stamped into the breech. The Buffington rear sight is intact and in good working order, and the original front sight is in great condition.

The bore is good - mostly shiny with crisp rifling. The block locks up tight and the extractor functions perfectly.

All the furniture is original and in good shape, including the cleaning rod.
