This 1898 Krag was one of several thousand rifles that was cut down by workman at the Benicia Arsenal in 1926 and offered to members of the National Rifle Association. These NRA Krag "Carbines" can be distinguished by their short stocks 22" barrels and 1903-style front sights.
This NRA carbine is in excellent condition. The stock features a great original 1899 inspectors cartouches. All edges are crisp with no evidence of sanding or refinishing.
The metal components are all in great condition much of the original bluing still present.
The action is buttery smooth and the barrel features great rifling with no rust or pitting.
The model 1901 rear sight is in excellent condition with no missing parts or damage. the 1903 style front sight is in great condition with no damage.
