Description

Here's a great Maynard for a shooter or collector. All original from top to bottom, this carbine is in good shape with much of its original finish remaining. The barrel still retains its beautiful blued finish the receiver's color case is no longer visible, but is still doing it's job to prevent rust. The action is nice and tight with a solid half and full cock. The barrel cams positively and locks up nicely against the receiver. The flash hole is nice and tight; not burnt out our oblong. The markings on the receiver are crisp and legible.

The barrel is full length and both front and rear sights are intact and unmodified. The bore is good with sharp, strong rifling It should make for a great shooter! The butt stock is in good shape with and excellent cartouche and a small chip missing from the shoulder that was filled with wood filler long ago (see pictures). Luckily, this chip is only cosmetic and will not get worse when fired.

This Maynard is a great representative sample of a good Civil War carbine-a great choice for any collection.
