This Model 1816 pistol was manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut for the United States Government under an 1816 contract for 20,000 Flintlock Pistols. Designated the Model 1816 by Simeon North, a total of 19,374 Flintlock Pistols were delivered to government arsenals from North’s start of production in 1817 until 1820.

This particular 1816 is in great shape and appears to be all original with the exception of a reproduction ram rod. The stock is very crisp indicating that is was never refinished, and an original inspector's cartouche is still visible on the left counterpane.

The lock was converted to percussion "drum" method. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock and the markings on the lock plate are crisp and legible.

The barrel is full length and in good shape with a natural even patina throughout. The bore has some scattered surface rust and light pitting.

The furniture is all intact and functional.
