Of all the Italian percussion revolvers, the single action Starr is probably the most rare. Pietta only produced these revolvers for a short time, in comparison with the rest of their line, before stopping production completely more than two year ago. That's right, these awesome Civil War-era reproduction are NO LONGER BEING PRODUCED! Even when these revolvers were under production, they were difficult to obtain; as Pietta constantly had issues with the tooling for both the single and double action Starrs. This gave Pietta Starrs a bad reputation in the marketplace as there was a large percentage of guns shipped from Italy that didn't function correctly.
Luckily, this lightly Pietta Starr works wonderfully and is unfired!. The hammer holds on both full and half cock and the cylinder locks up nice and tight with minimal wobble on full cock.
The barrel and chambers are all excellent with no rust or pitting.
Cosmetically, this revolver is in very good condition. The walnut grips are in great shape with no damage. The bluing is very good with only one or two areas of wear, and a slight drag line on the cylinder.
These Starrs are a real joy to shoot, and now that Pietta has stopped producing them, the opportunity to own one is becoming increasingly rare. Don't let this one get away!
