Here's a beautiful looking Remington M1861 Navy. Remington only made these .36 caliber revolvers for one year (1862) before releasing the updated New Model 1863 revolver; making these pistols fairly rare.

This particular revolver is all original and in great shape. The action is very positive and the hammer locks solid on both full and half cock. The timing of the cylinder is good and the lock up is nice and solid with minimal cylinder wobble. The finish is good with a pleasing patina and some areas of original bluing remaining in protected areas..

The barrel is full length and the Remington address stamp is very legible. The bore is good with strong rifling and a few scattered areas of minor pitting. The chambers of the cylinder are clean with no major pitting and some very minimal scattered surface rust.

The grips are original and it good condition. The right side grip panel has a repair in it (see photos).

This handsome revolver would be a great shooter and display piece. No Remington collector is complete with an 1861 Navy!
