Here's an excellent Remington New Model Pocket Revolver in its original .31 caliber percussion configuration. This gun is all original and in very good condition with roughly 50% or its original factory nickel finish remaining.
The lock up is nice and tight with no wobble in the cylinder. The action is as smooth as butter-it feels better than most Italian reproductions! The hammer has a positive half and full cock.
The barrel is in very nice condition. The Remington address stamp is intact and fully legible. There is no wobble in the barrel whatsoever. The bore is in great shape with good sharp rifling and some minor scattered pits throughout. Despite this, this revolver would still likely make for a great shooter.
As these guns were produced during the end of the percussion era, original .31 caliber percussion examples are quite rare, as Remington opted to market a majority of these guns with a .32 caliber rimfire cylinder installed. This is one of the few that survive in original percussion, with an excellent cylinder that matches the barrel in terms of condition. Each one of the chambers good with no pitting or erosion. The grips original and fit the gun well with some minor shrinkage from age where they mate up against the receiver.
