Description

This Remington Rolling Block Cavalry Carbine was built under contract for the state of New York. The state ordered 15,000 Rolling Blocks in 1872. Of these 15,000 guns, an overwhelming majority were rifles with only a scant few carbines purchased; making this gun fairly scarce.

Chambered in .50-70, this rolling block shows evidence of a long service life. It's exterior shows a dark patina with no major pitting Internally, this little carbine is "like-new" and features an absolutely beautiful, shiny bore with crisp rifling!

The stocks remain in good condition with a few minor dings and dents from handling, but no cracks, chips, or other major damage. A crisp "HBH" inspector's cartouche can be seen on the wrist, as well as an inventory on the middle butt stock.

The action of the block functions as it should and the action is very crisp. The extractor is intact and in great shape.

All the furniture is intact and matching.
