Description

Here's a great late 18th Century Pistol made by Robert Wheeler of London. Wheeler produced arms from 1766 to 1783. In 1784 he formed a partnership with his son and the firm became "Wheeler & Son". The lock of this particular is marked simply with the word "Wheeler" indicating that it is a true Revolutionary War era piece that was built by for "Wheeler & Son" was founded after the War. Robert Wheeler built a considerable number of trade weapons for the Hudson Bay Co. for export to America, and the simplistic styling of this pistol indicates that it was likely built for this purpose.

This beautiful pistol is in great shape and features a walnut stock with brass furniture. The lock functions well on both full and half cock and the frizzen spring is nice and crisp. The lock is still in its original flint configuration and does not appear to be a reconversion.

The stock is in very good condition with only one small cosmetic, superficial crack in the left side lock panel.

The barrel is roughly .50 caliber and is covered with a dark patina inside and out. The furniture is all original including the flared wooded ramrod.
