This CVA Kentucky pistol has been expertly defarbed by Steve Krolick to resemble the trade pistols produced by the British for export to America during the late 18th Century and early 19th Century. These trade pistols were very popular among trappers, fur traders, and Natives and have become ubiquitous with the "mountain man" era.

The stock is nicely shaped and finished with the popular "violin red" stain that was popular during the early 19th Century.

Steve transformed the Octagon .50 caliber rifled barrel and turned it "ocatagon-to round" with an attractive "wedding band" in the center. He also removed all the modern markings from the barrel and stamped historically accurate "LONDON" and British proofmarks. He then applied a historically-accurate browned finish to the barrel. The bore is very nice with no rust or pitting.

The flintlock features "pressed-in" scroll engraving; a feature that was quite common among export locks from the era. The color case hardened finish is excellent with no rust or pitting. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock.
