This is a great, original Smith! It is all original with a great bore honest patina. The action is smooth; holding solid on full and half cock. The lock up is very tight with no wiggle between the receiver and barrel. The receiver has great markings with a nice, honest patina.
The bore is bright with strong rifling, but areas of light pitting near the breech. This gun would be a fantastic shooter! The flash hole is nice and tight-not burnt out like so many other carbines. The sights are original, although the rear sight slide has been replaced with a peep and a taller sight blade has been installed in the front sight base.
The stocks are in good shape with crisp edges and only a few scattered dings and dents. A crack runs through the wrist from repeated opening and closing the action. The rear trigger guard screw is missing - a feature common to most Smith Carbines.
This Smith is a great gun. The condition of the bore and the tight lock up make this an excellent candidate for a shooter or collector.
