Description

Tom Nixon has long been considered to be one of the best builders of reproduction muskets in the country. Tom retired from musket building a few years ago; making guns like the one pictured below a real rarity. This Harper's Ferry M1855 Artillery Musket was built by Tom in the early 2000's. It is in excellent condition with a beautifully-crafted American Walnut stock that only has a few minor handling marks. Nixon applied his cartouche to the left side lock panel; as he did on all his muskets.

The lock plate was made by the late Brian Haack and has a nonfunctional primer door. It's in great shape with a handsome looking polish and no rust or pitting. All the lock parts are original and the action is perfect with the hammer holding solid on both full and half cock. The match grade barrel was made by Bill Large and is unmarked. The rear sight was machined by Rich Cross and the front sight is a "tall shooter" that was sighted in for skirmishing at 100 yds. The seven land and groove bore is mint with no rust or pitting.

All the furniture, with the exception of the ramrod and nosecap, is original and in excellent condition.

This musket is sure to be the pride and joy of any shooter or reenactor. Tom Nixon guns are of the highest quality and hard to find. Don't miss out on this one.
