Here's a excellent example of Whitney's "Second Model" Percussion Pocket Revolver in its original .31 caliber percussion configuration. This gun is all original and fully functional, featuring a large percentage of its original blued finishes.

The lock up is very good with no "end shake" in the cylinder. The action is positive and the hammer has a positive half and full cock.

The barrel is full length and in good condition and features a good legible Whitney maker's mark on the top barrel flat. The barrel features great factory bluing and the bore is very good with crisp rifling and no real rust or pitting to speak of.

The cylinder matches the barrel in terms of condition and features most of its original engraved cylinder scene. There is only one portion of the cylinder that shows some minor pitting (it looks like the gun may have sat in a damp gun case which subsequently left some very minor, fine pits in the cylinder and right side of the frame. Each one of the chambers is good with no real pitting or erosion.

The grips are original and fit the gun well. The original varnish on the grips is intact as well!

Whitney produced their Pocket series of percussion revolvers from the late 1850's until the outbreak of the Civil War, making this pistol the perfect companion for a Civil War collector or reenactor!
