Description

Here's and original Smith & Wesson Model 2 in very good condition. This .32 cal rimfire was a favorite among private-purchase item among soldiers on both sides of the Civil Warm who found it's quick-loading self-contained cartridges to be a distinct advantage on the battlefield. Even Mark Twain carried a Smith & Wesson rimfire revolver during his brief stint as an officer in the Confederate Army

This particular model 2 is in great shape and retains a large percentage of its original high-polished blued finish. It is all original and functional, and it's serial number, is in the 17,000 range; making it a Civil War era example (No. 2's with serial numbers lower than 35,731 were manufactured prior to 1865)

The action works perfectly and the cylinder locks up well on full cock. This revolver is also nice and tight with none of the barrel wobble that effects so many other original Model 2's. The bore and chambers are quite nice with strong rifling with only a few isolated areas of minor rust and scattered pits.

The rosewood grips are in beautiful condition and still retain most of their original varnish.

The model 2 was one of Smith & Wesson's earliest firearms; making it a must-own for any S&W collector. This excellent revolver is in great condition and certainly worth of even the most discerning collections.
