Here's an excellent Smith Carbine. This Smith was built by American Machine Works, making it among the rarer Smith contractors. This carbine is in excellent condition; retaining much of its original color case hardening and blued finishes.

The receiver is in excellent condition with most of its color case still remaining without any rust or pitting. The hammer holds solid on both full and half cock and the maker's stamps are crisp and legible. The saddle bar and ring are original and in good condition. The stocks are in great shape with most of their original finish remaining. The comb of the butt stock has a few minor cosmetic dents.

The barrel has excellent bluing with no pits. Both front and rear sights are original and in good condition. The top strap still retains most of its original fire-bluing. The bore is literally in mint condition and doesn't appear to have been fired. The lock up between the barrel and receiver are solid with no wiggle whatsoever.

This is an excellent collector grade Smith that could certainly be taken to the range from time to time. Smiths in this condition are getting very difficult to find and finding one in this price range is nearly unheard-of. Don't let this one get away!
