Description
This Ames Boxlock is about as fine an example as one could hope to find. The lock is in excellent condition with crisp stamps and no pitting. The hammer retains its original oil-hardened blued finish and holds solid at both full and half cock.
The stock is simply stunning with all of its original rubbed oil finish remaining. The grain of the wood has beautiful figure and to moldings on the lock panels are wonderfully crisp. Both inspector cartouches are present and legible, despite someone's attempt to deface them when it was likely "liberated" from the Ames warehouse.
The barrel matches the lock in terms of condition with great markings and a very nice bore.
The swiveling ram rod assembly is original and functional.
