Description
Here's a very unique piece! This interesting looking musket is a Swiss-made Canton musket. Its integrated one piece steel pan places its date of manufacture sometime in the 1750's. These muskets were made for the Swiss infantry but circumstantial evidence also suggests that a small number were exported to America during the Revolutionary War.
This musket is in good condition and has had some minor restoration work done. The stock was stretched behind the rear band and the rear and middle band are period replacements. Both the bands and the forearm section of the stock fit very well and the color of the spliced wood matches nicely. The rest of the stock is very sound with a few minor blemishes.
The lock is in good condition with nice crisp springs and a good half and full cock. The barrel is in good condition externally and internally - the bore is good with minimal rust or pitting.
Here's a great opportunity to own a great early flintlock musket at an even greater price!
