This unfired Colt Single Action Army was finished by renowned Kenny Howell as a "long flute" model. These guns were originally built by Colt between 1913 and 1915. They were produced using modified 1878 Double Action cylinders that Colt had in storage since the pistol was discontinued in 1905. With some minor modifications that primarily consisted of the addition of SAA cylinder stop notches, Colt was able to fit their current production Single Action revolvers with leftover double action cylinders, fitting them to both standard and Bisley actions and creating what is now known to collectors as the "Long Flute SAA". These pistols are extremely desirable as they were only built during a short two year time period; and sporadically at that, as Colt continued to produce standard model SAA's in conjunction with the long flute guns.
This pistol has been expertly built by Kenny Howell. It features a beautifully restored action with a serial number that puts in squarely in the long flute range of guns (numbers 330001 through 331479). The action features all the correct markings as well as beautiful period correct case hardening on both the action and hammer.
The 4.75" barrel and cylinder are both brand new, made in-house by Kenny. Both are in mint condition and historically accurate down to the finest detail - including a correct Colt barrel address and early "skinny" style rifling.
the action was hand tuned by Kenny, making it wonderfully crisp and smooth.
All of the serial numbers and proofmarks on the action, barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap have been beautifully preserved and restored. The screws are nitre blued and a set of correct "hard rubber" black grips has been fit up.
This beautiful pistol is new and unfired ready to take to the firing range or display proudly in your collection.
