Description

Here's an excellent M1861 built by Providence Tool Company in 1864. It is all correct and matching as denoted by the matching 1864 date on both the lock and barrel and the "upside down eagle" stamp on the breech- a feature unique to Providence Tool muskets.

This musket is all original from top to bottom. The lock is in great shape with some light surface pitting in front of the hammer but good, legible stamps. The lock functions flawlessly on both full and half cock.

The stock is in wonderful condition with excellent, crisp lock panels and no major dings or dents. There are also no cracks or rotten spots anywhere.

The barrel is in great shape. The breech stamps are all legible and the Providence Tool-Specific VP and Eagle stamps are deep and crisp. Both front and rear sights are intact and unmodified. The bore was relined by Bob Hoyt and is in excellent condition, making this musket an excellent candidate for shooting.

The hardware is all original and all matching. This handsome musket would be a great choice for a collector, skirmisher, or living historian. It's relined barrel and original sights would also make it an excellent candidate for use in the N-SSA's traditional skirmishes.
