This M1892 Krag is easily the rarest example of all the Krag rifles. This first year production Krag is easily distinguished by it's low 500 range serial number. This rifle's most outstanding feature, however, is the fact that it was never sent back to arsenal to be converted to a M1896; as was the case with a majority of M1892 Krags. Instead, this rifle retains all of it's original M1892 parts, including the early rear sight, butt plate, and nosecap.
This rifle is in excellent condition. It retains most of its original blued finish, which is beginning to "plum". The stock is sound with crisp edges and no cracks or splits.
The bolt action is very smooth and all the components of the action and magazine are present and functional.
The barrel is full length and both the front and rear sight are intact and functional. The rare M1892 rear sight is in excellent condition. The bore is very good with strong rifling and only minor "frost pitting" in the grooves.
The furniture is all original and in good condition with the exception of some minor pitting on the buttplate. The cleaning rod is missing, as is the case with so many of these early Krags.
This rifle would be a great piece for any collector who loves early production weapons; and because this rifle was manufactured in 1894 it can be sent directly to your door without any FFL transfer or paperwork!
