Description

The M1836 Cavalry pistol has the distinction of being the last flintlock pistol the US government ever made. These large .54 caliber hand cannons saw extensive service in the Mexican-American War, as well as the Civil War.

This particular '36 is in great shape. The stock is very crisp indicating that is was never refinished and there are no cracks or chips anywhere.

The lock is still in its original flint configuration - not a reconversion! The cock holds solid on both half and and the action of the frizzen spring is very snappy. The markings on the lock plate are crisp and legible.

The barrel is full length and in good shape with no rust or pitting. The bore has some scattered surface rust.

The furniture is all intact and functional.
