Description
Here's a great original Ballard that's all set up to be a shooter.
This Civil War-era Ballard has a great action with a solid half and full cock. The converted center-fire breech block locks up and nice and tight. The receiver also has some interesting "folk art" engraved on it. The name "Paul DAHawkins/Sept '99" has been nicely engraved on the left side of the receiver.
The stocks are in good shape with no cracks or splits.
The barrel was relined by Bob Hoyt and the chamber was cut to take a .44-40 cartridge. The bore is perfect with no rust or pitting. Both front and rear sights are machined reproductions made by Rich Cross.
The extractor functions well and the spring is intact and strong.
